Name
Forest on Route to 20.30 [Floresta nas Linhas 20.30]
country
Portugal
Goal
This municipal initiative aims to support the cultivation of 100 hectares of forest in the territory and support 25 hectares of existing autoctonous forests. It therefore seeks "to stimulate the conversion of poorly adapted forest stands and the forestation of uncultivated land with native species. It is also intended to support the improvement of natural regeneration, contributing to increased biodiversity, resilience and mitigation of climate change, with emphasis on increasing the storage capacity of carbon in the territory." This initiative also considers it essential to involve and support local rural and peri-urban communities, as well as property owners, in this process, and to encourage the creation of sustainable local businesses that may develop with the produce of these autoctonous species.
