Goal
The Community Energy Service Company (CESCO) is an emerging hub for community energy projects in Hungary. The aim is to facilitate community energy projects in Hungary through project management, knowledge transfer, access to finance, and network building. Currently CESCO focuses on solar panel installation for self-consumption at community-purpose and not-for-profit organisations in Hungary, such as NGOs, social enterprises and municipalities. CESCO will broaden these activities to facilitate energy efficient renovations and electricity sharing schemes for local partners. The first programme of the CESCO is partly funded by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology and partly by its own resources. They are implementing community energy investments in seven locations, the first of which is the Kazan Community House, home to the Gólya Presszó. The building's tenants will be organised into a renewable energy community through a solar panel investment. After this, they plan to continue working with other partners to spread community energy in new locations.
