Goal
"The Coalition aims to put communities back at the heart of decision-making. The Localism Act 2010-12 has given communities significantly more powers in local planning decisions and the right to own assets. With key policies on Green Deal, Renewable Energy and Fuel Poverty all being delivered against an electricity market reform being taken forward now, there are significant opportunities for communities. DECC Minister Greg Barker asked for a group to be set up to help the Coalition ensure that community has an opportunity to play a significant role in the transformation of the UK energy systems. The CECG gives input into specific policy development, to help identify barriers and solutions for the community-led development on energy. Please note that members do not lobby for specific or personal projects and cannot lobby on behalf of others."
