Goal
[translated] We develop workshops on the topics of climate crisis and climate policy for high school and university students and conduct them at educational institutions throughout Austria and online. The aim is to sensitise young people to climate-relevant issues, to inform them and to show them possible courses of action. In concrete terms, a UN climate conference is simulated: Participants slip into the roles of politicians and experience how an international negotiation on possible measures for the climate crisis could proceed. In the course of the negotiation, the agreed data is entered into an online computer programme that calculates the global temperature increase. The common goal remains, as described in the Paris Agreement, to limit global warming to less than 1.5°C. After the discussion, the respective negotiation roles are put down again to discuss what has just been experienced and achieved and to reflect on the process. We want to focus on strengthening the voices of the young generation and offer them space for discussion.
